British-made strike drones launched in successful test

The Royal Navy has launched strike drones from an aircraft carrier for the first time during trials aboard HMS Queen Elizabeth in the North Atlantic.

British-made Nyan Maritime one-way drones, manufactured in Wiltshire, demonstrated how autonomous strike systems can operate alongside F-35B stealth jets.

The North Atlantic trials also saw a Tekever AR5 fixed-wing uncrewed aircraft operate from a carrier deck for the first time.

Defence secretary Wes Streeting stated the successful tests show how increased defence spending is being used to enhance force reach and deterrence.

The tests align with the government's Defence Investment Plan, which allocates more than £5bn for autonomous military systems by 2030.
