Russia issues chilling WW3 warning to NATO – 'We will aim our nukes at you'

Russia has issued a chilling World War 3 warning to NATO, threatening to aim nuclear weapons at the alliance's territory.

Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said nuclear weapons would be targeted at Estonia if nuclear weapons aimed at Russia appeared there. "If there are nuclear weapons on Estonian territory aimed at us, then our nuclear weapons will be aimed at Estonian territory. And Estonia must clearly understand this," Peskov said.

It comes after Estonia's foreign minister Margus Tsahkna said NATO will launch strikes deep inside Russia if it dares to invade the Baltic states. "We'll bring the war to Russia and we'll have deep strikes very far into Russia. We know exactly what to do," Mr Tsahkna told the Telegraph.

"That's why we are now speeding up our investments and developing our capabilities [...] it's why we are investing 5% of GDP on defence in our region."

Mr Tsahkna made the comments amid fears Putin is planning to invade and partly occupy a Baltic state after the end of the war in Ukraine. Speaking at the Munich Security Conference last week, the foreign minister said the Baltic States were more than capable of fighting Russia after massively boosting their defence spending.

The previous plans of the past were just, ‘if Russia is coming, then Nato finally will win the war’. In that case, no Estonians will be left. So we are not interested about these kind of plans," he said. "This is our plan because there is no other plan. We cannot let Russia into the Baltic States and [only] then fight back."

In September last year, Putin sent three fighter jets into Estonia's airspace without permission. The aircraft flew for around 12 minutes before being pursued by two Italian F-35s - named Ghost 1 and Ghost 1 - which launched an interception mission from an air base 50km outside of the capital, Tallinn.

Since the manoeuvre was carried out peacefully, NATO fighters were not forced to fire at the Russian MiG-31s, which were equipped with air-to-air missiles. But the unprecedented incursion by Russia sparked discussions, as NATO warned Putin's country it would use "all necessary military tools" to defend the military alliance.
