Knifeman on the run after woman stabbed in north London park

A knifeman is on the run after a woman was stabbed in a north London park.

At 8.55pm on Monday, police were called to Elthorne Park, in Islington, where a woman in her 20s was found with stab wounds.

She was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital. Her condition is not yet known.

The Metropolitan Police said there would be an increased presence of officers in the area while investigations continued.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “At around 8.55pm on Monday, police responded to reports of a stabbing in Elthorne Park, Islington. Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended the scene, and a woman in her 20s was treated for stab wounds.

“She was taken to hospital, and we await an update on her condition. No arrests have been made at this early stage and residents can expect to see an increase in officers in the local area while enquiries continue.”

The force is appealing for information from witnesses.

The attack comes after 10 people were stabbed on a train between Peterborough and London on Saturday.

Anthony Williams, 32, appeared in court on Monday charged with 10 counts of attempted murder following the mass stabbing on an LNER train from Doncaster to London on Saturday evening. He was remanded into custody until Dec 1.
