‘Dangerous Repercussions’: Iran Warns U.S. Over Moves

Iran publicly backed Nicolás Maduro as the Trump administration increased military pressure in the Caribbean and targeted Venezuelan criminal networks tied to Caracas.

Tehran warned U.S. actions risk “dangerous repercussions,” and Venezuela welcomed the support.

Analysts say Iran’s ties to Venezuela, which include Quds Force activity, advisers, arms flights and use of Venezuelan territory as a regional hub, strengthen Tehran’s regional reach. Analysts warn this relationship poses a threat to U.S. security.

Former Venezuelan diplomat at the U.N. Security Council Isaias Medina III said, “This is a partnership for power, not principles. Iran’s engagement centers on deepening military, criminal, and intelligence cooperation that blatantly disregards international norms.”

The U.S. has also designated the Cartel de los Soles as an FTO and carried out strikes on alleged narcotics-trafficking vessels.

American Families Against Cartel Terrorism (AmFACT) President Adriana Jones said, “The terrorist designation of the Cartel de los Soles is an important reminder that the Trump administration is willing to use Foreign Terrorist Organization designations to combat dangerous drug and human trafficking cartels.”
